The short version
Your audio never leaves your device. SoundCheckTools analyzes microphone audio locally in your browser, in memory, and discards it immediately. There is no recording, no storage, and no upload of audio — ever.
Microphone audio
When you press "Start measuring" on the decibel meter, your browser asks for microphone permission. If you allow it, the audio signal is analyzed in real time on your device to compute an estimated sound level, and each snippet of audio is discarded the instant it has been analyzed. Pausing or leaving the page releases the microphone, and your browser's recording indicator turns off.
What we do not collect
- No audio recordings — audio is never stored or transmitted.
- No accounts and no personal data.
- No cookies for core functionality.
- No analytics or third-party trackers on this site.
Hosting and logs
This site is served as static files via a content delivery network (Cloudflare Pages). Like most hosting providers, Cloudflare may process standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site. We do not use these logs to identify or track individual visitors.
Search Console
We use Google Search Console to monitor how the site appears in Google search results. It reports aggregate search statistics and does not place trackers on this site or collect data about visitors.
Changes to this policy
If the privacy model of this site ever changes, this page will be updated before the change takes effect. The commitment above — no recording, no upload — is a core product promise, not a loophole.
